Characterization of Materials

It studies the conductive materials by a Network Vector Analyzer (VNA). Through this, incident waves will be emitted with coaxial cables whish is connected to the waves guide and that will propagate until the material to be studied. This process will provide the scattering parameters (s-parameters) which will be converted to obtain the electrical permittivity and magnetic permeability data. At the end, the HFSS software is used to compare the final results simulating the characterization of the material.

Network Vector Analyzer (VNA): The VNA is an Network Analyzer widely used for development of radiofrequency circuits. It is a test system that makes it possible to characterize the performance of devices and microwaves in network scattering parameters. The informations provided from the VNA are very used to ensure that the RF’s circuit can be optimized to provide the maximum performance. In this research is used the ZNC/ZND da Rohde & Schwarz model.

Coaxial Cables:  It is used to conduct the incident wave to the entrance of the guide.

Waveguides: Guiding structures, longitudinals and it is used to transport the informations and the enrergy. In applications that require high power transport and metallic structures are used as the rectangular waveguide.

HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator): Software used to simulate the process in the VNA. In that way is possible to have a reference to the results.
